Over the past year, our team have shed blood, sweat, tears and toil and now the day is nearly upon us.

A year in the life of the VMLM Team TA running team.

It's hard to believe that it was on a warm sunny day in June last year, that Team TA were selected by our board of directors.

2015 saw Tourettes Action have more entries than ever before, whcih made the selection process even more challenging for our panel. That aside, they were selected and delighted to pull on their TA running vests.

Each targeted with fundraising £1,600 (before giftaid), they earnestly set about organinsing fundraising events to hit their targets. With beer trips to Belgium, to school cake sales, Team TA were going strong and coming up with some brilliant ways of fundraising. Gentle jogs were taking place on late summer evenings and April 26th seemed quite a way away still.

And then slowly, summer swiftly turned into Autumn, followed by winter and our runners now had to endure longer runs, with colder weather and blustery winter nights. As the festivities kicked in, January was quite a dry month for some of our team and the joviality of christmas felt like a distant memory as the big day was less than 4 months away.

Sadly, a couple of our runners were injured in early 2015 and have had to defer their place. We understand this happens and really look forward to cheering them on in 2016.

Come mid February, training for our runners seemed to step up a notch as tales of, "we're off to do a long run" seemed to emerge on various emails and telephone calls we were having. Our mad March hares sprung forward into British Summer Time as the clocks went forward an hour and everybody lost an hours training - this was getting serious!

Light nights once again as their feet pounded the local areas where they lived, up and down the length and breadth of the UK our road runners were hard at it.

Then all of a suddent, these fantastic individuals who have made up VMLM Team TA are tapering! This is where, in the lead up to a long run, you cut down on the mileage, opting for smaller runs thus conserving energy.

Throughout this whole process, fundraising and training has been accompanied by strict nutrition plans. If you mistakenly thought that "gel" was something to put in your hair, I can assure they are little energy gels that you eat, think jelly babies, they give you energy.

With just 3 days to go, we want to firstly say thank you so much for signing up to do this. All of you have been touched by TS somehow in your life, your passion and dedication to the cause in raising so much money to improve the lives of people living with TS in comendable. Secondly, you have all put in so much effort, you deserve all the success and feelings of satisfaction that crossing the finish line will bring.

Thirdly, we are proud of you. ENJOY your race.
