Three members of Tourettes Action were interviewed by researchers at Ipsos MORI, for a project on behalf of the Office for National Statistics.

The aim was to test some new questions ahead of the second wave of the Life Opportunities Survey, which measures people’s use of public transport, health services, leisure and employment. The research is also to discover why people don’t take part and difficulties they have using public services.

The Survey has been running for a year and the Office for National Statistics is considering adding new questions which it wants to test with a number of communities, including people with Tourette Syndrome. “They will help ensure that the new questions are meaningful and appropriate” for people with neurological conditions, the researchers told us.

One of the members who took part in the testing of the new questions told us "it was constructive for them, as some of the questions were not geared to disabilities where they wax and wane. I believe IPSOS will tweak some of their future questionnaires."

Thank you to our three members who took part.
