Tourette Syndrome module at University of Birmingham in January
As part of their MSc Clinical Neuropsychiatry programme, the University of Birmingham is offering a stand-alone module in Tourette Syndrome.
The module will run from 19th- 21st January and will cost £250. Those attending can receive a certificate of attendance for CPD purposes (but no masters level credits are available for this module unless taken as part of the complete MSc Clinical Neuropsychiatry programme).
Module Description:
"You will learn about the epidemiology, presentation and clinical cause of TS. Biological data, particularly in relation to genetics will be reviewed. TS is also combined with a variety of other disorders (OCD, ADHD and other developmental disorders) which affect diagnosis, presentation and management. There will also be sessions with a service user and managing challenging behaviour in TS as well as diagnosing development conditions in adulthood.
By the end of the module you should be able to:
- Describe the biological data on TS, and its importance in the brain/mind debate
- Describe the epidemiology, course and presentation of TS
- Assess and manage challenging behaviour in TS
- Manage symptoms in TS
- Describe the care needs of people with TS, and available services"
