Russell Hobbs wrote to us to explain how his son's creativity helps with maintaining a positive attitude. Russell's son Alex is 14 years old and has TS.

‘Sadly my son has missed a lot of school recently due to the severity of his Tourettes. We had a meeting at the school to try and put a plan of action in place to improve his attendance, coupled with the support he clearly needs. I was shown a piece of schoolwork that he recently completed. Apparently, he had to design a T-shirt and he completed the task in 10 minutes. What moved me the most was his reason for the design. It’s not easy to read on the photo but his explanation was as follows’:

My chosen design is a snowman crossed by a ghost. The meaning for it is that you need to stay happy and positive whenever you feel sad/let down. The snow ghost shows by the smile on his face that there is still hope even though sadness is making him melt.”

‘I was quite emotional for a few hours after seeing/reading this but I know we will do all we can to support him during this difficult time’.

We love your drawing Alex, thanks for sharing it and your positivity!
