Factsheet - Functional Tics

Tics can be seen in a variety of conditions and can also occur as part of a functional neurological disorder, or FND, when they are called ‘functional tics’. People with Tourette syndrome may also develop functional tics. This factsheet aims to give you an introduction to functional tics which may help you and your health professional approach the problem better. It is not a factsheet about Tourette syndrome, but discusses the overlap.

This factsheet has been produced by Jon Stone (Professor) MBChB FRCP PhD, Consultant Neurologist (NHS Lothian) & Honorary Professor in Neurology (University of Edinbugh) neurosymptoms.org
