Teaching children to be money-smart from a young age is so important, so BBC Children in Need have partnered up with HSBC UK.

Being money-smart is a key basic skill for everyone and like so many lessons, the earlier we get to grips with it the better it is for each of us in the longer-term.

As a long term supporter of Tourettes Action, BBC Children in Need would like to share their new resources with the children we help.

They have been investigating the relationship children and young people have with money, and want to help improve their understanding of looking after their finances. Whether it’s pretend money, pocket money or wages from a first job, it is so important for children to understand where money comes from and how to look after it.

To help get the message across, HSBC UK have produced three videos for different age groups, all under 12 years old, with engaging stories and fun tasks to support them. The videos use stories to explain the difference between ‘want’ and ‘need’, the importance of working to make money, and how to protect yourself, your online identity and your money.

As part of the partnership with HSBC UK, BBC Children in Need are able to offer these resources to Tourettes Action and their other funded projects.

We would like to share these resources with all children, particularly those who have attended TICfest events, which are only made possible by BBC Children in Need funding.

As well as the videos there are some activities that simply require a pen and paper but there are worksheets (see below) if you have access to a printer.

There are 3 to choose from. They are split into three age groups and to access the lesson simply follow the links here:
