One of our researchers, Anekea was undertaking resarch on the experiences of diagnosis for adults with TS.

As part of her MSc, one of our researchers Anekea, was investigating the experiences of diagnosis for adults with TS.

We interviewed Anekea earlier in the year and you can read all of her interview and thoughts on research here, but below is a recap of what she was undertaking and hoping to achieve:

What is the topic of your research?
I am interested in exploring the experiences of being diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome and the experiences of living with the condition after diagnosis from people with a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome.
I want to talk to people about their diagnosis, the diagnostic process and what a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome means.

How will this help people with TS?
I hope this project will provide new information regarding the impact of diagnosis for people with Tourette Syndrome. This may help those without a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome to understand what having diagnosis means for people with the disorder, helping to create greater understanding of the disorder and reduce stigma. It may also help clinicians working in the area to understand any issues surrounding diagnosis and thus improve the quality of services for people with Tourette Syndrome.

Anekea has taken her abstract to many conferences and we are very proud to be able to share her reuslts with you.
