European Society for the Study of Tourette Syndrome (ESSTS) Annual Conference
We are incredibly proud of our colleague Ione Georgakis, who received a prestigious Mary Robertson Travel Grant and was also awarded 1st place in the poster presentation category at the European Society for the Study of Tourette Syndrome (ESSTS) Annual Meeting 2026.
The Mary Robertson Travel Grant is awarded to outstanding early-career researchers and clinicians, recognising both their achievements and their contribution to the Tourette syndrome community. Being selected as one of only six recipients from an international field of applicants is a fantastic accomplishment in itself. To then also secure first place for her poster presentation is a remarkable double success and a testament to Ione's dedication, expertise and passion for improving outcomes for people with Tourette syndrome.
ESSTS is a leading international organisation dedicated to advancing research, clinical practice and understanding of Tourette syndrome and tic disorders. Its annual conference brings together researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals and experts by experience from around the world to share the latest scientific developments, innovative research and best practice in care and support.
This year's meeting in Ljubljana welcomed delegates from across Europe and beyond, creating valuable opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange. One of the exciting discussions arising from the conference was the potential to work with international advocacy organisations, support groups and charities to translate the Tourette's Employment Passport into multiple languages, helping to extend its impact and accessibility across different countries.
Congratulations, Ione, on this well-deserved recognition. We are delighted to see your hard work celebrated on the international stage and look forward to seeing the continued impact of your research and advocacy.
