Where are you doing your research?

University of Surrey

What is the topic of your research?

Motor-cognitive control processes in developmental motor disorders.

How will this help people with TS?

The research will help to get a better understanding of brain processes in TS and their impact on emotional difficulties and impulsivity. It will help us to find out about the brain’s efforts to control movement and learning and whether these strategies are successful.

What stage of the research are you at?

I am still looking for participants. Please have a look at my advert

And send me an email if you want to take part:

m.topor@surrey.ac.uk

What will happen next in the study?

The prepared tasks will be scheduled in three parts:

1. A set of questionnaires

2. A set of motor and reasoning tasks

3. An electroencephalography (EEG) recording whilst completing two game like computer tasks

Who can take part in the study?

You can participate in my research if:

- You are over 18 years old

- You have a diagnosis of a chronic tic disorder or Tourette Syndrome

- You do not have a diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, dyspraxia or developmental coordination disorder, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), anxiety disorder, depression or any other neurodevelopmental, neurological or psychiatric disorder

- You are not currently taking any medication for tics

Why do you want to be a researcher?

I am very passionate about science and research. I enjoy learning about what other researchers have discovered and think about new ideas and advancements that help people in the future.
