TICfest Events

Our residential weekend events for families, teens and young adults aim to bring people in the TS community together for fun, rest and fellowship.

TICfest 2020

Unfortunately, due to the current situation and in response to social distancing measures, all TICfest events for 2020 have now been cancelled.

We know how much these events mean to TA families and the disappointment caused by cancelling but we are already planning for 2021 when we intend to run TICfests with the capacity for everyone to attend! All bookings made this year will be guaranteed a place next year and will receive an email with details.

If you have any queries please get in touch with

Nine year old Barney who attended TICfest 2019, has made a short video with Children In Need (who fund our TICfest events) sharing his feelings on how he's finding the lockdown.  And here he is again with another wonderful video diary, sharing his highs and lows of the week.

What can I expect at a TICfest event?

We understand that some children, and their care givers, may feel nervous about attending their first TICfest event; for many families it is the first time meeting other people with TS. Our supportive team are there to welcome you when you arrive, along with the 'tic mates' who are children and parents who have previously attended the events, to show you around, answer questions and help you feel at ease.

All TICfests begin at 5pm on the Friday evening. All meals are included as are all the activities for the children.

Friday night is about settling in, having dinner together, games and a campfire (weather permitting)

Saturday is full on with a variety of instructor led activities for the children, keeping them busy throughout the day; followed by evening entertainment. There will also be the opportunity for a parent discussion group.

Sunday is time for brunch, reflections on the weekend and exchanging contact details!

TICfest is funded by BBC Children in Need and the Sobell Foundation.

Terms and conditions

Families are limited to one TICfest as we want as many people as possible to enjoy a TICfest experience.

Definition of family group: Maximum of two adults (over 18) and siblings of your TS child. Siblings/TS Child must be 18 and under.

All children with TS must have a diagnosis: we cannot accept people onto the event who are waiting for a diagnosis.

Adults (over 18) pay £30 per head, children (18 and under) go free! When booking you will be asked to pay a deposit of £30 so if you are the only adult in your group there will be no further payment required. If a second adult is attending there will be a further £30 to pay 6 – 8 weeks before the event, we will request this payment via Paypal.

If you are not successful in obtaining a place your name will be put on the waiting list for your chosen event.

All meals and activities are included in the cost.

We understand that young people attending our events may wish to keep in contact through social media.  We encourage continued friendship and support networks, and advise that both young people and parents read our Top Tips for maintaining safety and wellbeing on social media (right hand side)

We'd like to say a huge thank you to BBC Children In Need for supporting our TICfest events.
