TICTastic Fundraisers spring into summer

Posted on 2 April 2015

As the warmer weather approaches, could you be tempted to pull on a pair of running shorts to raise money for TA? Alternatively, a spnosored swim may be more appropriate?

As we have all "sprung forward," lost an hours sleep and get ready to relax over the Easter break, let's have a look at what our fantasTIC fundraisers have been doing.

The majority of our fundraisers take part in runs, walks, bake-offs or some form of physical activity. However, Mary Lacey has fundraised for TA doing none of the above. Mary recently got married to John and, as a couple they decided that they had everything they needed, including each other. So, they approached their guests and asked them to donate to TA in lieu of wedding gifts. Mary's granddaughter, Jadie who lives with TS was her inspiration to fundraise. We were so touched by this gesture which saw us receive over £400. Congratulations to you both, Mr&Mrs Shepherd and we can't wait to see the pics.

Mandy Lower, also raised over £400 but in a totally different way. Mandy was inspired by her grandson, James who also has TS. Mandy pulled on her trainers and took part in the Hastings Half Marathon on Sunday March 22nd. Team TA are super impressed by you Mandy as we all (apart from Pip and Di who run) sat here feeling rather guilty for our apparent lack of exercise. Thank you so much and you have inspired the rest of Team TA to get exercising.

Now, being sporty must run in families as demonstrated by Zak McClounan. After having to put up with late dinners, reorganised family schedules due to his mum, Pippa running the London Marathon, Zak decided enough was enough! He set up his own Just Giving page, pulled on his trainers and roped in Dad (Paul) and Grandma (Joy) to accompany him on his 10k walk. Zak lives with TS and wanted to do some fundraising of his his own. The weather was gloriously sunny on March 7th when the dynamic trio set off. Hats off to you Zak for raising over £250. Sterling effort.

Donna Coffey her daughter Daisy who lives with TS and their friends, plus their absolutley adorable dog, decided to raise awarness of TS and take to the streets to fundraise. Final figures aren't in yet, but with their custom made bibs and happy crowd, not only did they have a good time, but, by being out there, they got the opportunity to educate people about TS

And the last but not least of March's Mad Hatters, was Dawn Lindup. Madison, Dawn's teenage daughter has lived with TS for awhile now and Dawn had decided the time was right for them to leap into action and fundraise, which they did spectacularly well. What started off as a small raffle, with some prizes from Tropic Skincare, spiralled into an evening event at a local Stockport Bar because Dawn had been so successful in securing prizes from local companies, including meals out, rag dolls, bottles of wine, the list is endless. Dawn obtained the necessary licence form her local council and the evening went off with a bang. Not only did she raise over £450 for TA, her Mum also won one of the prizes.

Well done to all of our marvellous fundraisers.
